Funding of Youth Group Volunteer Projects

Friends of Deer Hollow Farm, a nonprofit 501(c)(3) organization, funds volunteer youth projects at Deer Hollow Farm. The procedures and policy for this funding follow.

Funding: FODHF may partially fund farm improvement projects at Deer Hollow Farm by recognized youth groups such as the Boy Scouts, Girl Scouts, and community and school youth organizations if sufficient funding is available.

Procedure: Volunteers propose their farm improvement project to the Deer Hollow Farm Staff. The proposal should cover a description of the project including benefits of the project, costs, fund raising, labor plan and schedule. The Deer Hollow Farm staff approves the plan by signing the application.

The youth group presents the proposal to the FODHF Board of Directors at a FODHF Board Meeting. Meetings are held at 7 pm on the third Wednesday of January, March, May and September at the Mountain View Senior Citizens Center.

FODHF Board of Directors votes on whether to approve funding the project.

Funding Amount: The FODHF budget for funding youth volunteer projects is limited to $2,000 per fiscal year. FODHF will fund up to 50% of the total project cost not to exceed $500 per project. Funding is deemed available in any given year if there are sufficient general funds after paying for that year's commitments for farm enhancements, scholarships, and administrative expense.

FODHF Liaison for Youth Groups: FODHF's Liaison for Youth Project Funding is Mike Coggiola. He is available to answer questions and provide guidance to the youth groups at michael.coggiola@sri.com.
